Battle Ready: Victoria Pratt talks to Ian Spelling

"I liked the fact that you don't know if she's a good person or a bad person right off the bat," Victoria Pratt says of her new role as Andrea Battle, Brett Hopper's (Taye Diggs) partner, on Day Break. "She's a woman with secrets and I think that's a very interesting part of a character. It gives you more to play. I was really excited to play a part that was more based in reality. After doing so much sci-fi and fantasy, which I love, I was ready to do something more reality-based. So it was a great character to sink my teeth into."

Pratt doesn't think of the show as sci-fi, and though people are already describing Day Break as The Fugitive meets Groundhog Day meets Click, Pratt prefers a different analogy. "To me, it's more like 24 meets Sliding Doors," she explains. "It's funny, because people hear the concept of the show and they think it's going to be the same thing every day, every episode. But it is SO different. It's so different every day that you'd never know it's the same day, other than it's a mystery that needs to be unraveled. I look at it like this: imagine if you got up in the morning and rolled over and punched your husband in the face. How different would your entire day be because you did that one thing? Or how different would it be if you woke up, went into work and stapled your boss's tie to the desk and then beat him up? Your entire day would change. And the life of everyone around you would change, too, because you did that one thing. That's what happens on Day Break. Hopper learns things that only he knows, but it makes him change his day, and by him changing his actions it changes the actions of everyone else...dramatically."
