"Women should not be intimidated going into a gym. I think it's guys who get intimidated by women in the gym," says Victoria Pratt, the sexy lead in the sci-fi television series Mutant X.

The thirty-one-year-old fiery blond has always incorporated fitness into her routine.

"I've been exercising all my life. When I was old enough I joined an organized track and field team and we traveled thought the states and went to training camps. I ran 400 and 800-meter hurdles and 600-meter hurdles indoors. I was a long sprinter. The ones that hurt!"

"Track and field led into fitness and fitness led into kickboxing and martial arts," Pratt says. She is currently a blue belt in Shotokan karate and her favorite form of exercise is kickboxing, which enables her to perform most of her own fights and stunts. Already on her resume is a Karatics video with Robert Fletcher, a three-time U.S. Karate Champion.

Pratt became involved with acting with the help of one of her professors in college. She graduated from York University in Toronto summa cum laude with a degree in kinesiology and went on to work at the University in its Human Performance Lab. She was offered a scholarship to the master's program in physiotherapy at Toronto but declined. She has written a book on fitness and bodybuilding with her former professor Robert Kennedy, publisher of Muscle-Mag, who convinced her to study acting. She began taking classes at the Actors Network in Toronto.

Pratt has made appearances on First Wave and Xena:Warrior Princess, and played Sarge on Cleopatra 2525. She currently stars on Mutant X, as feline Shalimar Fox, a sensual beauty who is blessed with both animal and human DNA.

Starring in Mutant X seems ironic for the actress who says she grew up without a television! Originally from Chesley, Ontario, she describes her childhood as average.

"I was so active; I didn't like being still. I grew-up in a really small town in Canada and what kids did after school was climb trees, play tag, and doing really active outdoor things. There wasn't really much else to do there. I didn't watch TV since we only got cable when I was in high school."

After spending the last few years filming on the other side of the equator, Pratt recently returned from to L.A. from New Zealand and exclaims she is thrilled to be back.
...
Whether it's entertainment or entertaining, Pratt says she loves the company of others. She and her husband T.J Scott enjoy hosting parties at their home, which is nestled in a L.A. canyon.
...
While Pratt has been successful in her acting career, she has big dreams of becoming a restaurant owner. When asked what she will be doing in twenty years she replies, "I'm going to be running my own oyster bar."
