AMC Fanclub's 30th Anniversary

Crystal chandeliers, exquisite flowers, champagne flowing, handsome men and beautiful women...no this is not the Chandler, Marick, or Cortlandt mansion. This is the All My Children studio and the festivities are being held to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary...

My visit started with the remnants of a bomb scare with a dozen or so policeman in the lobby as everything and everybody was cleared to go back to their floors. It seems that there was a threat made to "The View" and since they share the building with AMC everyone had to vacate the building until it was safe to return.

The make-up and hairdressing room was a flurry of activity as almost the entire cast was there for the Christmas Crystal Ball and the anniversary celebration. On hand were... Julia Barr [Brooke], Jennifer Bassay [Marian], Rebecca Budig [Greenlee], John Callahan [Edward], Mark Consuelos [Mateo], Josh Duhamel [Leo], Marj Dusay [Vanessa], Cecilia de Wolf [Sophie], Mary Fickett [Ruth], Eileen Herlie [Myrtle], Sarah Hugh [Tina], Finola Hughes [Alexandra], Vincent Irizarry [David] [along with his beautiful daughter], Michael E. Knight [Tad], Jill Larson [Opal] [along with her beautiful daughter], Michael Lowry [Jake], Ray MacDonnell [Joe], Forbes March [Scott], Cameron Mathison [Ryan] Robin Mattson [Janet], Cady McClain [Dixie], James Mitchell [Palmer], Kelly Ripa [Hayley], Abifail Spencer [Becca], Mathew St. Patrick [Adrian], Esta Terblanche [Gillian], Ruth Warrick [Phoebe], Walt Willey [Jackson]. I am very sorry to say that Susan Lucci [Erica] had to leave because she wasn't feeling well. I had a chance to see Jean Dadario Burke, AMC's Executive Producer Enza Dolce her Assistant Sallie Schoneboom, Daytime Publicity Director, and Robin Chandler AMC's Publicist. It was a special honor to meet Agnes Nixon. I got butterflies in my stomach as I approached her. She is one of, it not THE most creative woman of daytime. Also on hand were all of the in-back-of-the-camera people, from cameramen, boom operators, lighting technicians prop men, hairdressers make-up artists wardrobe, in other words the dozen of people that make it possible for us to see our favorites everyday. Almost all of the soap publications were represented as well as ABC Tim. During the few hours prior to the actual ceremony several camera crews from New York's local networks and syndicated shows were in the hallways of the dressing room floor interviewing and filming the actors as they prepared for the taping of the show that day and the party.

After Ms. Burke spoke she introduced Ms. Nixon. Then the group raised their glasses in toast to the past 30 years and with a hearty wish for 30 more. With all of the talent and dedication that All My Children possesses I am sure that will be a wish that will not be difficult to be granted. As we all mingled with one another we had an opportunity to enjoy the delicious anniversary cake [okay, I confess, I had two pieces] and catch up with each other.

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this thrilling afternoon. I look forward to being a part of the ABC team for many years to come.

CONGRATULATIONS
TO EVERYONE AT
ALL MY CHILDREN!!!
