Forbes March: Fav Foods
Forbes March stars as "Jesse Kilmartin," a computer whiz who can alter the density of his body at will, on the syndicated TV action drama series "Mutant X." Forbes was born in Bristol, England and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia in a very creative environment. His father is columnist-philosopher Dr. Peter March; his mother, Janette, is an English/music teacher. Following in his parents' academic footsteps, March enrolled in the pre-med program at McGill University in Montreal, but soon left to explore his artistic interests. He moved to Vancouver in pursuit of an acting career, and quickly landed a recurring role in the popular Canadian television series "Northwood." He then relocated to New York City where he was granted a full scholarship at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Institute. Shortly after, he became the highly popular 'Scott Chandler' on the long-running ABC-TV daytime drama "All My Children." Most recently, he received a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Methodfest Film Festival in Pasadena, CA for his portrayal of 'Jay' in the award-winning film "Way Off Broadway." He also appeared in the teen horror film, "Campfire Stories," in which he starred opposite "The Sopranos" star, Jamie-Lynn Sigler. You've seen him as a fashion model in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Giorgio Armani, Nautica, and Marlboro Clothing. He's a true world traveler, and is proficient in Italian. Forbes is an avid reader, and also plays piano, violin, and guitar. And sorry ladies...he's married to wife, Vanessa.
Growing up in Nova Scotia, Canada, how were meals different?
"In Nova Scotia, food is a very fishy matter. All of the Maritimes revolve around the sea and the sea is our main resource. Fried Cod, Haddock, Flounder, Squid and Mackerel will for ever be banned from my table for the rest of my life, due to the well-intentioned over indulgence by my mother during my youth! Foods also tend to be fairly salty. I still try to get back to the small restaurant under the lighthouse at Peggy's cove for lobster, Prince Edward Island potatoes, and "slaw" for my birthday dinner each year. I'm also trying to find a source here in Toronto where I can find smoked mackerel; an oily, smoky, and extremely flavorful delight."
If you could "mutate" the flavors of several foods into a quick snack, like a Powerbar, what would it taste like?
"Doritos, chocolate, peanut butter & bananas, and a hint of single malt scotch."
Of your co-stars on Mutant X, who has the wildest eating habit?
"I would say all of them. I'm not real big on 'healthy eating.' I'm bigger on 'yummy eating!' A turkey breast should have gravy and tater tots beside it on the plate, not salt-free egg whites and boiled spinach, with carrot juice for dessert."
Have you ever done a fashion billboard or layout with any type of food/beverage as a prop?
"Yes, it was my first trip to Greece for a fashion shoot and I was late. I went straight to the location, a nightclub. We were all supposed to be a group of high-class party-goers, and they had already started getting 'in the mood' while they waited for me. Champagne became a very obvious prop for that shoot."
Favorite "forbidden" food when no one is looking:
"Doritos. They make me sick, and my face swells up. They are rumored to be highly carcinogenic. But they're so good!"
