The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) has announced their nominations for their second annual Directors Guild of Canada Awards. The announcement, which was made by DGC President Alan Goluboff and member Deepa Mehta, was held at Toronto's Carlu Event Theatre - the new home of the DGC Awards. The awards will be held this year on Saturday, October 4th.
Goluboff commented on the nominations, saying, "The DGC was thrilled with our sold out inaugural awards ceremony held last year, in honour of our 40th anniversary. We are looking forward to another outstanding event which will honour the best work of all of our members."
Mehta added, "The DGC are true champions of Canadian cinema and television, and have been a wonderful support to me in my directing career. I'm really pleased to have been asked to announce this year's nominees."
Dave Foley, one of the founding members of the "Kids in the Hall", and one of the stars of "News Radio", will once again host the event that received over 400 nominations this year in 15 categories. These nominations, from the guild's members, was then passed on to the DGC jury who selected the finalists in each category.

A national labour organization representing key creative and logistical personnel in the motion picture industries, the Directors Guild of Canada was founded in 1962 as an association of Canada's creative film directors. Today, it represents over 3,700 members in 48 different craft and occupational job categories, covering all areas of direction, production, editing and design.
For over forty years, The Directors Guild of Canada has actively promoted the continued growth of a healthy Canadian film and television industry through a variety of measures and helped to develop federal and provincial production incentives. This has resulted in increased employment opportunities for DGC members, and a strong Canadian film and television industry for all.
